Posted on: March 22nd, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

Have you ever been on a trip to the beach or camping with friends and felt the discomfort of the sun beating down on you? As you apply layer after layer of sunblock you still might worry about the UV damage you can get from the sun or you might get tired of the heat when you want to enjoy the scenery. With products that protect you from the sun like Quik Shade, you can worry less about being exposed to too much sunlight or too much heat. There are a lot of dangers involved with being out in the sun for too long that you are probably already aware of.

When you are living in a naturally warm area and it is over 80 degrees it can be hard to do your usual outdoor activities without putting yourself at risk for sunburn or dehydration. With a shade canopy you are protecting yourself from harm and also making sure you stay comfortable on a hot day. As you decide what type of product you would like to invest in for a better outdoor experience you can think about what activities you would like to use it for. Do you need a small shade that is easy to carry and set up at the beach or do you want something bigger that will be stable for camping?

Whatever activities you like to do you can find a portable canopy that suits your needs and makes it easier to enjoy your lifestyle. There are options for individual shade or larger canopies for a big group depending on what you are planning to do. When you have the right product you can escape the dangers of the sun while still enjoying the beauty of nature and the outdoors.

Setting Up A Canopy

Setting Up A Canopy

Do-it-yourself projects can be fun, helpful and can save you a lot of money. This do-it-yourself article teaches you how to set up your own canopy when you are camping outdoors.  When you go camping you want protection for yourself and your camping equipment from sun, rain or anything else you do not want on around your campsite. Camping is a great do-it-yourself project in itself and making your own canopy may be standard for some campers. The step by step instructions teaches you how to utilize trees or extra tent poles, tarp with just rope.

However, unless your camping in the forest with trees all around you, making a canopy yourself can be impossible, and the one you do make will be flimsy and annoying. If you are getting outdoors to just relax and breathe some fresh air and not worry about re-tightening your self-made canopy every hour and yelling at the kids to be careful every five minutes then your better off just buying a portable canopy. A portable canopy like the Quik Shade Weekender canopy can be set up in minutes and is big enough to provide shade or rain protection over a tent or other areas you will be using.

Skin Cancer Prevention ‘Slip, Slop, Slap & Wrap’

Skin cancer. These days it doesn’t seem like anybody takes that as seriously as they should. In this article from the American Cancer Society it gives us tips to prevent cancer by protecting ourselves from UV rays, what should seem like common knowledge but needs to be constantly reminded. Do people even know about the “Slip Slop Slap and Wrap?” Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slip on a hat and wrap on sunglasses, may not roll off the tongue so easily but its basic and everyone should realize that it doesn’t only apply when you are at the beach or the pool, but every single day. UV rays reach the ground year around with some seasons being more intense than others, making people constantly vulnerable to skin damage.

The ACS is not saying that sunlight should be avoided, but they are saying that the over exposure that occurs when you are unprotected will increase your risk of cancer. Fortunately this type of cancer prevention is easy by simply, checking the UV index in your area and planning accordingly. Get a sun canopy for outdoor activities, make sure your kids are wearing sunscreen, avoid tanning beds and just be reasonable about protecting your skin. Don’t ignore something serious that can be easily avoided.

Celebrities For Sun Protection

Posted on: March 12th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

In this article the very lovely Jennifer Garner says that she cares less about what people have to say about her outfit choices and more about her kids health, which for a celebrity, is new and refreshing. Jennifer Garner is a mom and a Neutrogena spokeswoman and darn good one at both. She practices what she preaches and explains that her kids wear sunscreen on a daily basis which may have been a result of her revelation she had in her twenties when she realized just how damaging the sun can be just in one day.

This is very novel of an actress to actually advocate for sun protection since so many others are so opposite and sport a bronzed skin tone all year long. People need to realize that this is not natural and it is harmful if not for themselves then for their kids. Even when you are not at the beach all day, a little SPF can go a long way so make sure your skin and your kids’ skin is quickly lathered before they step outside. If you are at the beach all day, wear proper SPF and even set up a shade canopy, in the long scope of things, you’ll be glad you did.

Upgrading Or Repairing Your Canopy

Posted on: March 9th, 2013 by Quik Shade 2 Comments

Repairing Your CanopyAs durable and reliable as many kinds of shade canopies can be, they are bound to see a lot of wear and tear over the years.  Any canopy that you have had for a while and have used outside on a number of occasions could run into problems or need replacement parts.  When it comes to repairing your canopy being exposed to the elements the parts that need to be replaced first are often the canvas top to a canopy.  The fabric of the canopy is worn down by wind, rain, sand and the sun.  The top can rip and tear leaving you with no option but to look for Quik Shade parts that will make it like new again without having to buy an entirely new canopy.

The replacement parts are affordable and a good idea if you know the majority of the shade product parts work well like the base parts which are often more durable.  Most companies tend to make the legs and base parts to be long lasting and easy to maintain so you can focus on replacing only the fabric portion of the canopy to save money.

While you take your canopy to and from different locations, in the process you can often lose important pieces of the product.  You might suddenly realize that it is missing some bolts, washers, pins or various other small items that help to keep it holding together.  When you realize that you are missing these things you can easily order exactly the right shade accessory that will allow you to start using your canopy again.  Without those important small parts you could risk your canopy collapsing when you are outside and need it for protection.  Making sure your canopy is fully repaired and ready for travel will keep you safe from any mishaps.

Resting In The Shade Safely

The beach is probably the go-to weekend spot for people living in southern California.  The beaches here are beautiful and when the weather is warm there’s nothing more enjoyable than lounging for hours or playing in the waves.   How do you stay healthy though and protected from the sun?  An easy option is to get a portable shade canopy to bring with you on those perfect beach days.   A canopy is kind of like a large umbrella that you can unfold and set up on the sand to shield you from the sun.  They can be inexpensive and very portable if you are someone who often goes to the beach on the weekends.

The top of the canopy will protect you from UV ray damage and the heat of the afternoon.  You should still wear sunscreen to be extra safe but the majority of the sunlight will be blocked out from above you.  You can enjoy the view of the ocean, read or just relax knowing that you are in a sun shelter and will not get burned by the afternoon sun.

When you look for the kind of canopy that you will want to use exclusively at the beach you should make sure that it is designed for that type of location.  Some canopies might be too heavy duty or meant for a long camping trip rather than a day trip to the beach.  Since the beach can often be kind of breezy you will need a canopy top that will stay up and not topple over in the wind.  You need something small and portable but still functional that will last you for years.  Any time you go to the beach you should always remember your canopy to stay safe in the warm sun of California.
