Some areas of the U.S. have to deal with a lot of heat during the summer and it can even be downright dangerous when temperatures reach above 100 degrees. It is important to follow rules and recommendations that doctors provide when the heat gets really intense.
Of course the best choice is to stay indoors as much as possible during the day but this is not always an option for people that have to work outside or have activities planned. The period of time that the sun’s UV damage is most dangerous is between 10am and 4pm.
This is the time when you should stay out of the sun, seek a shade tent, or if that’s not possible wear plenty of sunblock. Aside from the sun, a dry and hot day can also take its toll on your body in other ways. People suffer from dehydration during the summer and it can be very bad for your health. You should make sure to drink the recommend 8 glasses of water a day and more than that if you are sweating and losing water.
You can replace electrolytes with a sports drink or two but don’t rely too much on these as water is really the best thing for staying hydrated. As long as you have a pop-up shade canopy, sunblock and plenty of water there is no reason to worry too much about the sun but just be cautious and aware of the effects of summer weather.
