Keep Cool This Summer and Stay Safe

Posted on: May 24th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

Some areas of the U.S. have to deal with a lot of heat during the summer and it can even be downright dangerous when temperatures reach above 100 degrees.  It is important to follow rules and recommendations that doctors provide when the heat gets really intense.

Of course the best choice is to stay indoors as much as possible during the day but this is not always an option for people that have to work outside or have activities planned.   The period of time that the sun’s UV damage is most dangerous is between 10am and 4pm.

This is the time when you should stay out of the sun, seek a shade tent, or if that’s not possible wear plenty of sunblock.  If you are planning on being out in the sun make sure to invest in outdoor canopies that you and your family can use so you are not stuck anywhere without shade.  A canopy that is small and portable is an easy way to avoid too much sun exposure when you have to be outside in the heat.

Aside from the sun, a dry and hot day can also take its toll on your body in other ways.  People suffer from dehydration during the summer and it can be very bad for your health.  You should make sure to drink the recommend 8 glasses of water a day and more than that if you are sweating and losing water.

You can replace electrolytes with a sports drink or two but don’t rely too much on these as water is really the best thing for staying hydrated.  As long as you have a pop-up shade canopy, sunblock and plenty of water there is no reason to worry too much about the sun but just be cautious and aware of the effects of summer weather. Businesses Can Use Canopy Tents for Marketing

Posted on: May 21st, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

There are many products available that act as a “pop-up shade” and are normally used at the beach or on camping trips.  They are basically a kind of canopy tent that is collapsible and portable so that it can be set up and torn down quickly outdoors.  These types of tents can have many uses though and could be a great idea to use as a marketing tool.

Many companies are using a canopy replacement as a way to get their logo printed on the top of the tent.  With a new canvas top that represents their company they can bring this tent to festivals and conventions to attract the attention of people passing by.  The canopy is the perfect space to do outdoor marketing and to offer samples of a product or brochures because the items will not get damaged by the sun or rain outside.

The positive effect of attempting to do marketing outside at events and festivals is that it gives a more personal touch to advertising.  People can talk to representatives at the portable canopy tent and ask any questions they might have about the product.  They could be more convinced because of their connection with a person instead of just an advertisement that they can easily ignore or turn off.

With marketing at outdoor events it helps to have a system set up that can work anywhere and it will be appealing to anyone passing by.   People are usually interested in trying out samples or looking at flyers and brochures inside of a canopy cause it is fun and interactive and gives them a hands-on experience with what a company can offer.  Canopy tents are a great tool for marketing, connecting with customers and getting the word out about a new product. Chicago Opens Outdoor Exhibition in Millennium Park

Posted on: May 18th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

In late May, an exhibition called “Spontaneous Interventions” will be set up in Chicago and will be open to the public for viewing.  Some of the areas will include a pop-up canopy that is meant to be a kind of “outdoor living room” where people can sit and enjoy a space designed by talented artists.

The space has a wood structure and canopy top with many colorful panels that change based on the conditions of the light and wind.  This and many other exhibitions will give people a chance to experience design and architecture in a playful way.

From the images I have seen of the exhibitions that will be open this spring and summer, it looks like it will be a fun experience for families to enjoy art in an outdoor environment.  Sometimes the type of artwork that is interactive, like the moving instant canopy with colored panels, is more appealing for parents and young children that will respond to it.

The design work becomes a part of the outdoor space instead of just something to look at and admire.  The outdoor living room looks beautiful and can be a functional part of the park for the time that it is there.

Enjoying the Great Outdoors With The Right Supplies

Posted on: May 14th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

Even though camping is a chance to escape from the luxuries of everyday life, it is still important to be prepared and bring all the things you will need for your comfort and safety.  You wouldn’t want to be stuck in a bad situation without survival tools or to feel sick, cold or hungry.  You can get the experience of “roughing it” while still having a great time with your friends and family.

The most important thing you can remember to bring is a first aid kit to help you in case anyone is injured.  Anything can happen when you are hiking or doing other camping activities so you need to be able to treat minor injuries.  If anyone in your party is dehydrated or getting overheated in the sun then a shade canopy is a good way to keep them safe while they recover.  Especially in cases where you are camping out in the dry heat of the desert, a tent with a canopy weight to keep it secure is important to protect you from the sun and the dusty wind.

Aside from all the main things you will need to have with you like a tent, sleeping bag, food and water there are other smaller items that you could forget if you do not add them to your list.  A flashlight or lantern can be crucial to you if you get stuck outside after the sun goes down.  Having a small flashlight with you at all times can help you get back to your tent or portable canopy and avoid a dangerous situation.  Useful tools like a Swiss army knife can come in handy when you need a knife, tweezers or any of the other things it offers.  Remembering your safety when packing for a camping trip can keep you prepared for anything that happens. Surprise Storm Cuts Short San Antonio Parade

Posted on: May 11th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

For the first time in the history of the festival, rain scattered over the 65th Fiesta Flambeau Parade forcing people to seek cover.  Luckily there were gazebos and portable canopies set up around the area that people could huddle under for shelter.  The canopy shade gave them the chance to wait out the storm so that the parade could continue.

The San Antonio festival is something that locals and even people from out of state wait for all year and they were not willing to leave because of the rain.   In spite of their resistance, the parade had to end a bit earlier than expected because of the weather.

It seems like this type of weather is very rare for Texas, especially this time of year so most of those attending the parade were probably unprepared.  It was lucky that people were able to take shelter under pop-up shade canopies but it is not possible for a parade like this to continue under such wet conditions.  At least people that came to see the parade were able to witness the first half of the event until later in the evening when the storm began and everything was shut down.

Fun Activities at the Beach

Posted on: May 7th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

For people who live near the beach it can be a great place to clear your mind, relax and take in nature for a few hours.  You might not think about how much there is to potentially do there that can make the experience even more enjoyable.  While you can always just sit and read under a pop-up shade, there are more active things you can do as well.  For those who love being in the water you can try out fun sports like surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking or even just swimming.  These are all great ways to interact with the ocean and enjoy what the waves and water have to offer us.

You should remember to always be respectful of others in the water, especially on crowded summer days and learn some basic safety and etiquette for these sports. It is important to wear lots of sunblock and take breaks under your portable shade canopy so you don’t get too much sun damage.  The water can wash off your sun block so make sure to reapply frequently while you are having fun.

If you are not as much of a water person then there are plenty of fun activities to do with your friends on the sand.  You can try to get together a group to play beach volleyball.  Even if you’ve never played before, as long as you are with good friends you can have fun with it.

Most beaches have a pathway for biking, skating or just walking.  You can rent bikes or skates and get some exercise while enjoying the nice weather and beautiful surroundings.  These are all ways to get creative on your beach trips and get active when you get bored of lounging under your canopy tent.  Make the most out of your trips to the beach and have fun this summer. Connect with Quik Shade on Facebook.

Bottle Rock Festival Provides Camping at Nearby Skyline Park

Posted on: May 3rd, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

For the best experience at Napa Valley’s Bottle Rock Music Festival many festival goers chose to set up tents and shade canopies at Skyline Park, a temporary campground near the festival.  Most of the campers attending this festival were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere of the campground

Having been through a lot of festivals before, many campers were satisfied with the mellow vibe of the area in spite of the cost of reserving a camping space.  During the day some people were able to set up a portable canopy as a lounging area to serve drinks and socialize with others at the festival.  Skyline Park proved to be a successful space for those looking for a great festival experience.

Many festivals can become overcrowded and stressful even when you are camping out at night but it seems like the Bottle Rock Festival created a more relaxing place for people to set up their camp space.  Even with a tent or pop-up canopy it is still important for everyone to have their own personal space so they can decompress and just have fun with their friends.  Skyline Park gave those paying for the festival a chance to take in Napa Valley as well as the music they came to see.

Stay Safe on Hot Days This Summer

Posted on: April 30th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

Summer is quickly approaching and for places like southern California the heat and sun can be very intense some days.  Of course we all want to enjoy ourselves outside at festivals, at the beach or on camping trips but the more precautions you take to stay safe in the sun the better time you will have in the end.  First of all it is important for sun safety to remember to keep well hydrated on hot days.

It is a general rule that you should drink 8 glasses of water a day but on a sweaty hot day outside you should probably drink more than that to regain the water you lose.  Even underneath a shade top like a tree or umbrella you are still experiencing the heat and water is important to have with you at all times.  If you are not in a place with shade readily available you can take an instant up canopy with you which only take a few minutes to set up and will keep you much more comfortable.  You can bring important items like hats and sunglasses which will offer some protection as well.  Make sure you buy sunglasses that offer 100% UV protection for your eyes.

If you are going to be moving around too much to bring a shade canopy like if you are going hiking for example it is really important to apply sunscreen every two hours.  You should also cover up with clothing that is thin and lightweight as much as possible.  If you are doing something active that is making you sweat a lot you can lose electrolytes this way so be sure to bring a sports drink or some salty snacks to keep your body balanced in addition to your supply of water. Preparing for All Types of Weather

Posted on: April 29th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

Even in the mildest of climates, every place has changing seasons and different types of weather systems moving through from time to time.  It’s good to be prepared for whatever comes your way especially if you are planning on being outside for an activity like a camping trip for example.

Anytime you are exposed to the elements outside it can either be a very unpleasant experience if you are not properly prepared or an enjoyable and fun one if you have are ready for it.

The first thing you should probably get especially for camping is a shade canopy.   This can work for all kinds of weather if you have the right one and the canopy accessories that go along with it.  It can be lifesaver for either intense sun, wind or rain whatever the case may be.

The next most important thing besides shelter is having options for clothing with you that will keep you as comfortable as possible.  On a sunny day you will need more than just sunblock which can only do so much.  You will also need some lightweight clothing that will cover up most of your skin from the sun and a hat to shield your face.

When you are not sitting under the canopy top because you are hiking or just out and about you will be glad to have some of your own shelter from the sun covering your body.  The same can be said about other types of weather like having some warm clothing for winter and a reliable raincoat in case of a storm while you are outdoors.  It’s a good idea to keep your feet dry with boots that will protect you from the rain and are useful for hiking in wet conditions as well. Coachella Offers a More Shade Options

Posted on: April 28th, 2013 by Quik Shade No Comments

In the past, music festivals like Coachella usually meant spending hours walking around or standing outdoors in the desert heat to see your favorite musicians perform.  It could be uncomfortable and exhausting but for diehard music fans it was worth it just to see so many bands in one place.

As the audience for this type of festival has started to become an older crowd, Coachella is now offering shade canopy areas like the Yuma tent with air conditioning and comfortable chairs and sofas while people watch underground acts perform.  It is very different from the crowded and grassy portable shade tents of the past which offered little comfort to concert goers forced to deal with the heat and stand throughout the entire show.

As Coachella grows more popular and the ticket prices continue to go up it is only fair that they would offer more for the kind of money people are paying for these shows.  Anyone paying 300 bucks should have the opportunity to sit down and relax in this new type of club environment they are bringing in to the festival instead of something really basic like an instant canopy. People are expecting more from a festival this big and it is great that Coachella is evolving to meet people needs.
